What is HDHMR | Everything you need to know about HDHMR | SK Interior

HDHMR (High-Density High Moisture Resistant)
This more
recent wood material product has a higher density and resilience to moisture
than plywood. It is far more suitable for usage in environments with high
moisture levels since it is harder and denser than MDF.
Uses
• Kitchen cabinets
• Furniture
• Panels
• Partitions
• Shelves
Maintenance
• Clean just specific areas rather
than the entire surface
• Use lukewarm water to wash this
material
• Make a crisp swipe rather than
running

PRO
Low Maintenance
After your
carpenter uses HDHMR ply to build the necessary structures, you won't have to
spend a lot of time maintaining them. Lukewarm water is a simple cleaning
solution for HDHMR boards. All you have to do is make sure you're wiping the
boards with a damp cloth rather than soaking them. Although an HDHMR sheet
won't be easily scratched, you should exercise caution when using objects or
utensils with sharp edges.
Water-Resistant
The
greatest benefit of adopting HDHMR is this. The ideal option if you reside in
an area with high humidity levels is HDHMR ply. Most wood-like structures can
warp and break when exposed to moisture, but using HDHMR for a long time
prevents this from happening. Even if HDHMR boards stay wet for a while, the
surface won't begin to peel off. The boards or sheets do not readily absorb
water thanks to the special glue that is used to bind the forest and
agricultural wood waste particles.
Termite Proof
Despite the
fact that many people favor using wood for furniture and cabinetry, making it
termite-proof is a major challenge. You need not worry, though, thanks to
HDHMR. Unsanitary living conditions brought on by termite infestation can
result in extensive furniture and interior structure damage. Because the
pressing technique removes small amounts of wood, HDHMR is termite-proof. This
increases the density of the board or sheet while also getting rid of any
unusable particles that might attract termites.

Cons
Heavier than other
material
There is no
heavier building material than HDHMR ply. Due to this, cutting and shaping may
be challenging, especially if you're working alone.
May lose shape in the long
run
Some HDHMR
boards may bend and lose their shape after extended use. This may also occur if
HDHMR boards are kept for an extended period of time in subpar storage
conditions.
